pathophysiology

Snake venom contains prothrombin activators. These substances induce blood clotting in the victims by specifically activating prothrombin to thrombin.

Acute renal failure is one the most common systemic complications after snakebite, however, its pathogenesis remains obscure.

Venom contains certain enzymes and other proteins that destroy red blood cells.

Lymphadenopathy is the term for swelling of the lymph nodes.
The lymphatic system is part of the immune system and functions to fight disease and infections. As infection-fighting cells and fluid accumulate, the lymph nodes enlarge to many times their normal size.
